Inaugural event summary
The Multilingualism SIG held its inaugural event on Monday 8 July 2019 at the University of Westminster in London. This event showcased current work on multilingualism among the BAAL community and beyond, provided an opportunity for the exchange and cross fertilisation of ideas aimed at promoting the multilingual turn in applied linguistics and sociolinguistics, and discussed the agenda for the Multilingualism SIG. A short AGM followed the event to elect committee members. In an inclusive spirit, participants were encouraged to submit a poster of a current project on multilingualism. The inaugural symposium attracted 41 fee-paying participants plus guests.
